What we can offer
Healthy Living Weeks
Urban Activities has organised Healthy Living Weeks
at a large number of schools, both Primary and Secondary, and
is able to co-ordinate a diverse range of activities for all aspects of Healthy
Living, from “Yoga
for Kids” to Boxercise.
Street Dance and Football are our most popular requests!
During the course of these weeks we like to arrange for a nutritionist
to come in and talk to the children about food choices they make….particularly
over school dinner!
We have also worked in conjunction with London Aim Higher to
provide motivational speakers.
Day Workshops
Urban Activities routinely organises a widespread number of Day
Workshops.
These have included Bollywood and Mediterranean Dance Days, Self
Defence Days and Martial Arts Days.
Holiday Schemes
We currently work with the London Boroughs of Brent and Harrow
to provide multiple activities for children and young people in the
school holidays.
The workshops have included Creative Writing and Drama, Football,
Keep Fit, Multi-Skills Sports, Self Defence, Street Dance, Tai Chi and
Wushu Martial Arts techniques.
The Breakfast Club
An essential warm-up for the “Urban” day’s activities,
from a gentle “tai chi-style welcome to the morning” to a
more vigorous “limbering session”, fine-tuned according to
your school’s needs.
Our trainers are guaranteed to get the children active and focused for the day ahead. With an emphasis on fun and inclusion, the club encourages all children in exercise and helps them learn confidence in movement.
The Lunchtime Club
Designed as a playground leader session with an extra physical
kick to give the children the outdoor exercise they need.
The fitness benefits of regular sport are very quickly noticeable. When they see the changes in their own fitness, the children also become inspired to continue as they discover that fitness is fun! This club can be run as a variety of sports activities, or even a dance workout!
The After-School Club
After a day in the classroom children, like adults, need to unwind.
Our After School Clubs give them the opportunity to do just that, in
a safe, supervised environment. The physical activity also helps
reinvigorate them and improve their concentration before homework.
The clubs are an effective way to incorporate extra exercise into the
school day and allow the children to feel part of a team.
